About Your Retreat
My name is Rebecca and I was born to gather!
When you combine the transformative power of yoga and the organic group energy of amazing people surrounded by jaw-dropping nature, the possibilities for where life takes you and what new things you'll create, are boundless. That is my life philosophy.
With Friendsgiving in mind, I imagined this retreat as a yoga-inspired summer camp with a plethora of fun, creative activities for people like me who value experiences over site-seeing and become inspired by connecting with others seeking the same.
Let's spend an afternoon at Secret Beach mashing papaya and almonds into natural nourishing facial masks after a walking meditation session in the sand. Let's gather for game night by our private pool after a sunset yoga session. Let's collect beach shells and make a meaningful keepsake to bring back to your family and friends back home. All this is possible, we've done it, see the pics below.
I've seen it time and time again, how people leave this magical place with a satisfying ache in their heart. If you value collecting experiences over visiting top-10 Trip Advisor spots, immersing yourself in new environments with great people under the thoughtful support of a (really fun and caring) guide; if you're looking to be inspired, to shake things up or to let things go for real this time, then this retreat is for you.
I believe in the power of travel, play, and gathering to inspire transformation and help people flourish.
A Typical Day
Enjoy 1-2 yoga classes daily plus one group activity whether it’s dining out together or going on a Stand-Up Paddle tour. All the scheduled activities and classes are optional, and you can take a break from the group anytime. A typical day looks like...
7am morning yoga class in the ocean view studio
9am breakfast at the organic Tea House
10-3pm free time/lunch on your own
3pm afternoon activity
5pm sunset yoga
630pm dinner at a local restaurant
Rebecca is a trained vinyasa flow yoga teacher with a special love for restorative yoga and meditation. She enjoys taking creative license with classes by incorporating other modalities and influences like Pilates, dance, tai chi, trapeze, partner acrobatics, surfing…you name it. Your classes this week will be themed around the values of Friendsgiving: connection, support, inspiration, and more.
All sessions are designed to be educational, experiential and fun. Rebecca is an expert at teaching to all levels, no matter your previous yoga experience and education.

What People Are Saying
About Your Instructor
Rebecca completed her 200-hour Teacher Training in Washington, DC in 2006 in the Vinyasa Flow style of yoga and has been teaching ever since. She specializes in progressive flows with imaginative and deliberate cuing, starting slowly and building to a challenging peak pose so students feel challenged and supported. Her classes are inspired by the teachings of Shiva Rea, Cyndi Lee and Tara Brach.
Rebecca came to yoga as a teen looking for a quick escape from high school phys. ed. classes. She always loved falling out of handstands so was immediately taken by the way yoga exponentially expanded her physical self-awareness as a shy teen. It just felt really good.
She loves surfing and storytelling in her free time. Rebecca currently lives in Costa Rica and offers private yoga retreats for small groups seeking a week of inspiration and rejuvenation in Santa Teresa. Learn more at www.MyYogaRetreatCostaRica.com.
Rebecca will be your host and yoga instructor on this retreat.
About Your Hotel
The word "Eden" comes to mind as Horizon's Hotel is nestled among lush tropical gardens on a steep hill side above town, affording you a stunning view of the ocean from the yoga deck, the restaurant and most of the villas. While you gaze out over the Pacific Ocean for richly colored sunsets, hear the howler monkeys roar through the trees and smell the ylang-ylang trees sweetly wafting through the breeze. When you walk up the stone steps to their restaurant, the organic Tea House, you'll feel a sense of relief wash through you and know that this is a place where you can be yourself and relax.
A family-owned establishment, Yoav and Gali will welcome you as part of their own family. You'll see Yoav making elaborate breakfasts and fresh juices each morning after teaching his own yoga class and Gali will always be there with a smile to help you with anything you need to make your stay more comfortable.

Rebecca choose this hotel because the yoga deck has the best view in town for your classes, the food is unique and delicious, the service is unmatched and the gardens and grounds create a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere perfect for your retreat.
Getting to Your Retreat
Getting to Your Retreat
Your retreat at the Horizon Hotel is located in the town of Santa Teresa, on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. This surfer's paradise is off the beaten path and it is a two-step process to get here.
The first and last days of the retreat are considered travel days; Sunday you will arrive and we will briefly meet for a welcome circle at 630pm before our opening dinner together. On Saturday, we will have final breakfast together at 8am before your departure. Please plan your travel accordingly so you don't miss out on any of the scheduled activities.
Your airfare and ground transportation are not included in the price of your retreat.
Step 1. Fly to International Airport SJO in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Take an international flight to SJO (Juan Santamaria International Airport) in San Jose, Costa Rica. Many airlines fly to SJO. Another option is to fly into LIR Liberia International Airport, a smaller airport that has similar but less frequent options for transferring to your retreat location.
Step 2. Take a domestic flight or shuttle bus to the hotel.
From SJO airport, it is a quick 25-minute flight on a puddle jumper with Sansa Airlines or Green Airways to the local town of Tambor. From the airport in Tambor, you will take a taxi or shuttle to your hotel (45-minute drive).
Step 2 Alternative: We highly recommend taking the 25-minute flight to get to town as it will minimize your travel time and maximize beach time, however if you're not a big fan of small propeller planes, you can opt to take a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. The shuttle takes about 6 hours total in an air conditioned van and includes a beautiful 70-minute ferry ride across the bay. It costs $50 each way.
